Gary Mackean was born in Fife and studied at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating with a BA HONS in Visual Communications and then a MFA in Illustration.

Gary is primarily an independant comic book artist and is the creator of the Scottish ongoing comic book series Angus the Haggis Slayer as well as many others.

He also paints atmospheric paintings based on Scottish wildlife and makes digital cartoons based on popular culture. He has had several of these illustrations in shops and galleries around the United Kingdom.
